Share it: not just for Social Media but for Social Impact

Baked into our values here at Wilsonwest is the strong belief that companies which incorporate social impact as part of their business strategy (not as a separate department or initiative) will build a stronger brand, attract more committed employees, and develop stronger partnerships with customers.

This is rooted in our business processes where we help our customers build relationships through strategic meetings and events.

Hats off to Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff as he kicked off this week’s mega event Dreamforce with this keynote, featuring a strong message: Share itand he wasn’t referring to social media! Benioff strongly believes in what he calls integrated marc-benioff-salesforce-620xaphilanthropy. When he founded Salesforce he made the 1/1/1 pledge that means the company will give 1 percent of its equity, 1 percent of employees’ time, and 1 percent of products to charity every year. Corporate social responsibility is a founding philosophy of Salesforce and is woven into everything they do.

Some of the wealthiest people in the world are taking philanthropy very seriously. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are two founders of The Giving Pledge, which asks wealthy individuals to pledge to give away more than half of their wealth to philanthropy or charitable causes. They have quite a pledge list already that includes some famous names like George Lucas, Ted Turner, and Mark Zuckerberg.

These companies and individuals are making significant social impact and we applaud them.

Wilsonwest makes social impact a part of the planning process for each event. We first consider our client’s mission and values as well as the type of event and community where the event is being held, to help us identify creative and positive ways to integrate giving into the plan. I recently posted a blog about corporate social responsibility and how event planners can make a difference when planning their events. Click here to read the blog.

Share it. It makes a difference.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Wilsonwest Team!
